Whether you believe it or not, there are conspiracies about every historical event that happened. The truth of the matter is that we might never know if these conspiracies are true or not. Most recently, the attacks of September 11th have been challenged by many theorists. Was it an act of terror by people in the middle east? Or was it set up by our own government to install fear in American citizens in order to gain more control of them? The movie Zeitgeist (see more about that in the post below) explains a lot about the conspiracy surrounding 9/11. The on line movie, Loose Change, centers solely around 9/11 however, and they continuously update it. The link to their blog can be found at this site http://www.loosechange911.com/blog/

You do not have to believe that 9/11 was caused by our own government. But you should learn all the facts, get all the information, and see every view point before you make your decision. This is just an example of a situation where I feel like many people are just more comfortable believing what the media tells them, the societal norm, rather that doing research to see all the view points.

Also, I am not putting my opinion into any of these posts to say what conspiracies I do and do not believe. This isn’t about which events I think were real and which weren’t, but more important is how we, as a general public, base our beliefs on, and whether that information is trustworthy.

Or confuse you, or change everything you ever knew…

Zeitgeist is a movie that I suggest everyone watch. I have noticed that people either generally hate it or find it fascinating. Either way, it will open your mind more, and hopefully make you look at things in a new way.

On its website, http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/, it explains Zeitgeit’s purose:

Zeitgeist, produced by Peter Joseph, was created as a nonprofit expression to
inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective and to understand that
very often things are not what the population at large think they are.

The movie is broken down into three main parts. The first part, titled “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” challenges Christianity and it’s history, and points out astonishing similarities between Jesus and many many other religious leaders.

 The second part, titled “All the World’s A Stage,” explores the idea that September 11th was created by our own American government to create fear among public to gain more control.

The final part, titled “Don’t Mind the Men Behind the Curtain,” explores controversies surrounding the Federal Reserve System, and says that powerful bankers have been trying to gain world power by creating such devastating events as the Great Depression, as well as several other tragic events.

The movie is two hours long, just a warning, but you can take a look at the preview below if you are running short on time. However, I highly suggest watching the whole movie, for it provides sources and facts to back up it’s claims.

With so much information in the world today, and so much access to this information, it is easy to get confused and lost when trying to think of everything, especially for young people.

1. In order to prevent or stop this confusion, do some people just choose not to think about contemporary controversial issues?
2. Are people’s beliefs based on what is easiest to comprehend over what is real?
3. Or are they based on what is popular (what the news just says) instead of challenging and fighting for the truth?
4. Are young adults today a certain religion just because their parents raised them that way, or have they actually looked at all the other religions and chose the one the one their parents have?
5. Would people rather be lazy than to challenge social norms, and is this superficiality causing us to lose shared values we once had?
6. What do people base their beliefs on- is it on researched facts or simply on what they are told to think?

There are too many questions asked everyday, and now the problem is that there are too many answers as well.

I believe that in contemporary society, because there is too much information always circulating, it often times leads to people feeling confused. There are millions of views on basically any topic, and with the popularity of the internet these views are more easily spread than ever before.

How do we know wht is made up, and what is really fact?

If we can’t tell whats fact from whats fake, are what we base our beliefs on trustworthy?
